Arjan Eshuis

Arjan Leonard Eshuis of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on Thursday, January 6th, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 43 years. Arjan was born in Almelo, the
Netherlands to Leo and Betsie on August 11th,1978. He grew up with 3 older siblings, brothers Johan and Frits and sister Jolanda.

He went to agriculture college and was a trained carpenter and bricklayer. In these early working years, he started dating former classmate Karin Koppelman. In 2001 they married, and in 2006 daughter Sophie came into their lives.  After short periods of work in Canada, a dream came true, the young family made the jump to Dauphin, Manitoba in 2009. Arjan started working with farm equipment at Reit-Syd Equipment. In recent years he was Territory Manager of Manitoba in forestry equipment at GB Equipment based out of Quebec.  A year after moving to Canada, Arjan got his first tumor in his leg. Several treatments and surgeries followed. When the cancer was back for the third time, the prosthetic leg became part of his life. However, there was no complaining or grumbling, his positive character and humorous streak pushed the pain away and gave him the strength to fight. In 2018 and 2021 new tumors appeared in his lungs. Eventually in a place where they could not be removed. Treatment followed and the realization grew that after “so many years of spare time” the end could be approaching. Arjan however remained hopeful and kept fighting. As with everything in life, it also came down to practice in faith, being there for one another, and not putting himself first. As a people person he was involved with everyone. He was proud of his girls and loved to go cruising with them! Up to the last moment a life as normal as possible was led. Until Arjan had to give up the fight last week and put his life back in the hands of his Creator and Savior.

Arjan was predeceased by his father Leo Eshuis. Arjan will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Karin Eshuis of Dauphin, daughter Sophie Eshuis of Dauphin, mother Betsie Eshuis of Vriezenveen, brother Johan (Riet) Eshuis of Hoge Hexel, brother Frits (Altine) Eshuis of Vriezenveen, sister Jolanda (Han) Smelt of Vriezenveen, parents-in-law Leo and Ada Koppelman of Vriezenveen, sister-in-law Sandra (Emiel) Koppelman of Bruinehaar, brother-in-law Gerko (Altina) Koppelman of Vriezenveen as well as numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and many friends.

He was loved by many and will be forever remembered as a strong, positive, example for all.

A private funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. from the Pathways Funeral Services Tribute Room with Mr. Darrell Aitken officiating.

Current public health orders will be followed and those in attendance must provide proof of COVID - 19 Vaccination.

Interment will follow in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery.
