Betty Laundry Obituary

Betty Mary Laundry of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Dauphin, Manitoba, at the age of 79.  She was surrounded by family and friends.

Betty was born December 27th, 1943, in Espanola, Ontario to Catherine Laundry and Henry Duplessis. She attended school in Espanola, Ontario at the Sacred Heart Catholic School. Betty worked numerous jobs, from pumping gas, to waitressing, babysitting and housekeeping. She later met Roy Becks and together they raised six children until his passing in 1979.  In 1983, Betty moved her family to Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, where she met the love of her life, Bob Cunningham. They enjoyed farm life for many years, until they moved into the town of Gilbert Plains, where she made her home until her passing.

Betty always had open arms for the new babies that came around for visits, she could spend hours holding the little ones and watching them smile. She was always an animal lover and opened her home to many furry friends over the years. At the time of her passing, she had two dog friends, Rosie, and Lucy, and two cat friends, Rocky and Lucky. Like all of us, they will miss her dearly.

Betty had many hobbies and collections, from Christmas displays to huge sunflowers in the garden; she enjoyed making people smile with her lights and displays. She had a contagious unforgettable laugh, bringing smiles to everyone who met her. Betty loved baking, knitting, and watching her soap operas. She loved her family, she talked to her children and grandkids daily on the phone when they were not close by for visits.

Betty is predeceased by her Memere Mary Menard Laundry, her parents Catherine, and stepfather Steve Ostroski, and Henry, her brothers Jack, Stan, Victor and Leonard, her Husband Roy, and her stepdaughter Priscilla.

Left to mourn her passing is her partner Bob, children Catherine (Randy), Roy (Donalda), Bettyann (Phil), Richard (Arlene), Robin, Robert (Nancy), stepdaughter Freda (Lyndon) and stepson John.  She also leaves behind brothers Ronnie, Teddy (Rose), sister Shirley (John), and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
