It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Mitchell Coma, who passed away on May 13, 2025, in Dauphin, Manitoba, with his wife by his side. One day shy of his 59th birthday, Brian was born on May 14, 1966, in Winnipegosis, Manitoba.
Brian was a true man of many talents—a skilled carpenter and drywaller for many years, a knowledgeable hunting guide, an experienced operator of heavy machinery, and a hard-working diamond drilling hand. His work took him across the country, especially to Northern Canada, where he spent many seasons drilling and running equipment. Though it began as work, he grew to love the North—its rugged land, wildlife, and open skies. No matter the job, Brian gave it his all—not just out of dedication, but because providing for his family was his greatest purpose. Everything he did was for them; they were his pride, his joy, and the center of his world.
He is lovingly remembered by his soulmate, high school sweetheart, and wife of 40 years, Debbie, his children Cherish, Arley/Randy, and Waylon, and his grandchildren Cyfiera, Elsa, Skyler, Braylee, and Meadow. Brian was the greatest Papa his grandchildren could have asked for—devoted, and full of love. His family meant the world to him, and he showed it in everything he did.
Brian had a deep passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and trapping, and found peace and joy out at “Papa and Gramma’s Camp”, a place he held close to his heart. He always looked forward to annual “smooshie” picking in May, as well as blueberry picking in August. Many nights would be spent by the fire, telling old hunting stories, enjoying the outdoors with his family.
Brian’s family would like to send a special thanks and a big “Thumb’s Up” to the GH5 team at HSC, Dr. Wiens, and the many staff that provided him with care and compassion.
In accordance with Brian’s wishes, a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
