The Medwid family is very saddened to announce the sudden passing of Dianne Medwid; Mother, Baba, and partner, on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Dianne was born in Dauphin, MB to Tony and Anne (Dutka) Medwid on September 13, 1952. She was raised on the family farm in Sifton, MB.
After graduating high school, Dianne moved to Winnipeg for a time before moving back to Dauphin, where she spent the rest of her life. After moving back to Dauphin, Dianne began her 30+ year career at Zaplitny and Zamrykut as a secretary. It was around this time that Dianne had a son, Anthony. Dianne raised Anthony as a single Mom in their little house on 4th Ave, SE until she met the love of her life Jerry Standryk, and the three of them became a family.
Later on, Dianne took on her new favourite role as Baba to Coen and Kienan. She spent many happy years creating memories with them. Whether it was camping at Birds Hill or Selkirk park for the summer, playing games (their favourite being Yahtzee), family shopping trips to Grand Forks, and visiting them for every birthday and holiday. The boys will always look back at these happy times, and think of their Baba with love.
Dianne loved to cook for her family, and her family most recently got to enjoy homemade borscht on her last visit out. She liked sharing her recipes, and spent one Thanksgiving at Anthony and Amanda’s showing them how to make her favourite salsa. She was a huge animal lover and supported the humane society whenever she could. She always had cats to share her home with, most recently, her two “fur babies” Gilman and Virgil. She also always brought treats in for her “grand dog” Boba, every time she visited. Dianne was an avid shopper who could never resist a good deal! She was always on the lookout for a sale! Dianne’s favourite thing to do however was to travel. When she was younger she travelled all over the globe, but her favourite trips were the ones she took with Jerry. Some of their favourite trips together were to PEI, Australia, China, Oahu and more.
Dianne was a determined, hardworking, smart, headstrong, fiercely independent, loving; Mother, Baba and partner. She was always looking out for her family and always tried to help however she could.
Dianne was predeceased by her parents Tony and Anne Medwid, her brothers Edward Medwid, and Sebastien (Syl) Medwid and her partner of 30+ years Jerry Standryk. Dianne is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her son Anthony and daughter in-law Amanda Medwid, her beloved grandsons Coen and Kienan Medwid of Selkirk MB, and many extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the first responders for their compassionate care with Mom (Baba).
