Donna Showdra

Donna Showdra passed away suddenly on June 15, 2023, at the age of 79 years old in a tragic traffic accident.  

Donna was born in Grandview, Manitoba on July 23, 1943. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Nick and Francis Dadey. 

In 1959, Paul and Donna Showdra united in marriage. They were each other’s safety, soulmates, and support. Together they farmed and raised a family in Petlura. They raised four children, Linda, David, Connie, and Darlene. Donna and Paul decided to retire and enjoy socializing with loved ones, and most of all, being grandparents. 

While planning to sell the farm and establish a retirement plan, Paul passed away in October 1995. Donna continued with selling the farm and moved to Dauphin. She enjoyed being in Dauphin and being close to her children and grandchildren who always kept her busy. After moving to Dauphin, she continued her love for gardening and cooking. Donna also continued her love for caring for others as she continued doing homecare. She also took a big leap and travelled to Alaska and went to Niagra Falls. 

In 2000, she met John Chudobiak. Donna adored her partner as they shared many of the same interests. They travelled to Churchill together and various parts of Alberta, enjoyed attending almost all auction sales in the area, and enjoyed planting a garden together every year. Donna spent 17 memorable years with her partner, John. John passed away peacefully in January 2017 with Donna by his side. 

Donna was predeceased by her husband Paul and partner John; as well as her parents Nick and Francis Dadey and siblings Katherine, Anne, Jessie, Rose, Alex, Lawrence, Nick, Stan, Harry, and Marion. 

Surviving to cherish the time had with Donna are: her children Linda (John), David (Karen), Connie (Pete), and Darlene (Bryant); nine grandchildren: Chis (Pam), Dwayne (Holly), Amber (Mark), Joleene, Dezerie, Rema (Chris), Travis (Joanie), Lance (Lisa), and Cortney (Darcy); great-grandchildren; Leiland, Kysen, Kendall, Maleah, Nathan, Lennon, Chloe, Callie, Hayden, Oscar, Max and Hannah.

A Funeral Service was held for Donna on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. from Pathways Funeral Services.  Reverend Father Brent Kuzyk officiated, and interment followed in the Dauphin Riverside Cemetery.
