Edward Caruk Obituary

Edward Caruk, of Dauphin, Manitoba, passed away at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, October 23rd at the age of 88 years.

Edward was born to Michael and Annie Caruk on May 28, 1936, in Garland, Manitoba. On May 4, 1963, he married Olesia Lewicki of Ethelbert, Manitoba.

Edward farmed on the family farm throughout his childhood and continued after his father passed away at a young age to help support the family for a number of years. He also worked in various places including the railway, Canada Car, Inco IHC dealership and lastly as a Custodian for the Dauphin Ochre School Division for over 20 yrs in which he worked at the DRCSS and lastly at Whitmore School when he retired and remained living in Dauphin.

Edward was very dedicated to his family and a man of few words. When visiting his family, you would often see him and his brothers sitting around not saying anything but just happy to be in each others company. After his retirement he enjoyed reading, especially history books of his hometown Garland and surrounding areas. Often seen puttering and fixing something or working on the lawn or in the garden.

Surviving is his wife Olesia, children Brenda Gawazuk and husband Larry, Brian Caruk and wife Lois, Dwayne Caruk and wife Vicky, grand children Tully Gawazuk and wife Marlie Anne, Tessica Gawazuk and Matt, Tanner Gawazuk and Farrah, Darian Caruk and Sierra, great grand children Tyrese, Tatyana, Taiden, Harmony, Shyanne, Zidane and Daxton, sister Hilda Tymchyshyn, sister Elsie and husband Eugene Prokopowich, brother Ron and wife Phyllis, brother in law Mike Lewicki and wife Liz and brother in law Paul Lewicki and wife Beverley along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Michael and Annie, his brother-in-law Peter Tymchyshyn, sister Olga and her husband Paul Tymchyshyn, his brother John and his wife Josie, sister Mabel and husband John Wingie, nieces Heather Caruk, Sharon Tymchyshyn and nephews Gerald Wingie and Wayne Prokopowich, mother-in-law Tillie and father-in-law Peter Lewicki.

A celebration of Edward's life was held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. from Pathways Funeral Services.  Reverend Steve Wilson officiated
