It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Olesia Caruk, who passed away on October 13, 2025, at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre in Dauphin, Manitoba, Olesia was born to Peter and Tillie Lewicki in Ethelbert, Manitoba, where she lived with Peter and Tillie and also her brothers Mike Lewicki and Paul Lewicki on a farm in the Kulish district. She met Edward Caruk of Garland, Manitoba and they were married on May 4th, 1963.
Olesia worked hard all her life, she grew up on a farm in Kulish district, which being a farm kid was probably work in itself, all though there was plenty of good times in which Olesia loved telling stories about. She worked many different jobs all around Manitoba. She opened Caruk’s Country Kitchen in Ethelbert, Manitoba which she loved very much, her passion was cooking and she worked in many of the restaurants in Dauphin, Gilbert Plains and at the Dauphin Golf Course. She worked until the age of 74 and then retired. Olesia enjoyed gardening, canning and of course cooking for everyone, she loved spending time with family and making everyone laugh.
Left to cherish Olesia’s memory are her children Brenda Gawazuk (Larry), Brian Caruk (Lois), Dwayne Caruk (Vicky), grandchildren Tully Gawazuk (Robyn), Tessica Gawazuk (Matt), Tanner Gawazuk, Darian Caruk (Sierra), great grandchildren Tyrese, Tatyana, Taiden, Harmony, Shyanne, Zidane and Daxton. Brothers Mike Lewicki (Liz), Paul Lewicki (Beverly), sister-in-law Hilda Tymchyshyn, brother-in-law Ron Caruk (Phyllis), sister-in-law Elsie (Eugene) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Olesia was predeceased by her husband Edward Caruk, parents Peter and Tillie, mother-in-law Annie and father-in-law Michael.
Should friends so desire donations in Olesia’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A Celebration of Elsie's life was held on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. from Pathways Funeral Services Reverend Steve Wilson officiated.
