Our Hearts are broken as we say goodbye to our loving mother and baba Elsie Slobozian, who had left us peacefully at home on Friday March 27th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Elsie was born in Grandview on April 19th, 1948, to Stella Sidlar (nee Ewanyshyn) and Joe Sidlar. Elsie attended Denepro School and graduated from Grandview School. On March 4th, 1967, she married Fred Slobozian and eventually settled to their farm in the Petlura district.
Throughout her life she held a number of restaurant jobs that included the Grandview Hotel and the Grandview Co-op. She moved on to provide Home Care services and then came to building her career at the Grandview Credit Union, where she built numerous relationships with community members to her eventual retirement.
Elsie found joy and meaning in the simple things in life. She loved to attend dances and events at various country halls, doing quilting, cooking, canning, making perogies, diamond painting, and playing cards and games with family and friends, Her greatest past times were, becoming a hockey baba, watching curling, playing shuffleboard, and was passionate in tending to her flowers and garden.
Above all else Elsie cherished her family. Left to hold her close through memories are:
Her children, Allen, Ken, Terry, Tracy Slobozian, her grandchildren Justin Slobozian, Danielle Phillips (Nick) her great grand daughter Giulietta Phillips, and honorary family member Jerico Juan, Elsie is also survived by her siblings; Tony Sidlar, Mitchell Sidlar, Leona Schmidt, Larry (Lorraine) Sidlar, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Elsie is predeceased by her parents Joe and Stella Sidlar and Husband Fred Slobozian
