Eva Day Obituary

Our Mother, Eva Day passed away in her sleep on May 10, 2025, at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home at the age of 103, 4 days after her 103 Birthday. What a wonderful long life she had.

She will be lovingly missed by her 7 children: Allison , Don (Heather), Stephen (Verna), Alan (Sharon), Janice (Ken), Ken (Sandra), Kathryn (Rod); by her 16 grandchildren, Jacqueline (Tim), Aura, Amber (Jim); Robin (Al); Lindsey (Matt); Derek (Sarah), Ryan (Amy); Crystal (Woody), Kimberly (Michael), Matthew (Amy); Jordan (Katrina), Alysha (Trevor), Erika (Stefan), Ciara (Dustin); Andrea (Dan), Thomas; and 36 great grandchildren. And many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her Father and Mother, James C and Johanna (Emma) Parker, her husband Eric of 48 years and 9 brothers and 3 sisters Warren (Fern), Richard (Olive), Walter (Minnie), James (Ella), Jeffery (Edith), Wilfred (Nell), Russell (Margaret), Ernest (Peggy), Thomas (Ivy), Mary Jane (Robert Thomlinson), Myrtle (Richard Acton), Margaret Parker, as well, son in-law Jake Enns, 2 daughter in-laws Carol Day and Adeline Day, also many sister and brother in laws.

Eva attended a one room school in the “Qu'Appelle Valley” and here is where Mom learned to love and appreciate poetry, short stories and rhymes.  Mom remembered favourite songs and could still recite many poems and rhymes in her final days.

Mom worked very hard raising 7 children, and she was still able to prepare a fresh apple or lemon meringue pie on Sunday for dinner.

Another love of our Mother’s was music. Mom learned to play the piano by ear as a child and later passed the love of music onto all her children. Mom later took up the cello.  Mom sang in the choir at the United Church and more than once played the piano for the service. Mom’s faith in the Lord was very important to her.

She enjoyed the art program at the Watson Art Centre for many years.

The family is thankful for the special care she received from the staff at the Gilbert Plains Personal Care Home and Happy Haven in Dauphin.
