It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan B. Matz on May 23, 2022 at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, at the age of 78 years.
Joan was born on September 23, 1943 to Thomas (Scotty) and Ellen Secord, the third of four children. She received her education in Dauphin. On February 22, 1974 she married Merle Matz. Joan worked as a cook at Sticky's for many years and was well known for her soups. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Joan is survived by her husband, Merle, of 48 years. Son Scott (Verna) Morrissette of Lacombe, AB and Daughter Wanda (Vernon) Toews of Fork River, MB. Four grandchildren, Ashley (Tony) Bueckert of Vanderhoof, BC, Dustin Morrissette of Lacombe, AB, Kyle (Dallas) Toews of Fork River, MB and Jamie Toews of Vancouver, BC. Four great grandsons, Rylan, Reid and Randy Bueckert and Jake Toews. Joan is also survived by her sister Elba Haid, her sister in law Evelyn Secord and numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her son Randy, and infant son, her brother Delbert Secord, her sister Hazel Beaubien and her brothers in law Ed Beaubien and Marshall Haid.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of Joan's life will be held at a later date.
