We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Joanne on September, 12 2023, in Dauphin, Manitoba.
Joanne was born in Ste. Rose du Lac on August 19, 1949, to parents John, and Olga Pulak (Nee Gniazdosky). She grew up in Rorketon, Manitoba where she received her education. Upon graduating from grade twelve, Joanne attended the University of Manitoba from 1968-1969 and received her teaching certificate.
She taught school in Crane River, Manitoba for one year; 1969-1970. The following year she moved to Norway House, where she taught for the 1970-1971 school year. When the school year ended, she embarked on a trip to Europe for a period of three months. In the fall of 1971 she returned to Rorketon where she spent the next 25 years assisting Mom in the operations of Pulak's General Store and occasional substitute teaching at the Rorketon school. in 1995 Joanne and Mom left Rorketon and did some travelling before settling in Dauphin, Manitoba. In Dauphin, Joanne was employed part time at the Credit Union from 2007 until 2018.
Joanne was a very private, quiet, caring lady. She loved visits with family and also with friends she had made at Happy Haven over the years. She liked watching sports on TV, especially the Winnipeg Jets games, and the Toronto Raptors. Fridays were a great day for Joanne as it was her shopping day and she always managed to find the greatest sale. She also was an animal lover, enjoying the many pets at the Happy Haven building.
Joanne will be lovingly remembered, and sadly missed by her brother Fred and wife Annette Pulak of Alonsa, MB, twin brother Johnny (John) and wife Marlene Pulak of Saskatoon, SK, nephew Eldon Pulak of Vancouver, BC, niece Chantel Pulak and great nieces Ava and Violet Farkas of Saskatoon, SK.
Joanne was predeceased by her father John (1969), mother Olga (2002) and youngest brother Wally (2015).
