John Wiebe Obituary

John Wiebe, 100 years of age, peacefully passed away on June 10th, 2021, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. He was born on October 14th, 1920 in Gould Town, Saskatchewan, the son of Abraham & Marie (Janzen) Wiebe.

He was the eldest living sibling from his family at 100 years of age.

John was married to Violet from 1950-1970 and then went on to love Lydia Senger, up until her death in the late 90’s. He is survived by Violet and their 3 children; Kathy (Dale), Lyle (Lucy) & Louise (Rod). Grandchildren Robert & Carey (Kathy), Rosalina, Violet, John, Abraham, Cassandra & Romeo (Lyle) and Amanda, Jessica & Nicole (Louise).

He is also survived by 40 great grandchildren & 13 great great grandchildren.
Many thanks to his neighbour and good friend Shirley Gillis, for helping John for so many years, as family was far away.

John was liked by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a very skilled wood worker despite only having one hand. He loved fishing, camping & exploring the great outdoors. John was a simple man, who lived a simple life. He wasn't focused on material things. His focus was his family and friends.

John was not known to be a man of many words, but he did leave some words of wisdom to share with his family and friends. "Life has been a hard row to hoe, but never give up. Even when it seems you are going under"

John requested no funeral.  He asked for cremation and the interment of his ashes with his parents gravesite in Warman Saskatchewan.  An announcement of that date will be made on Facebook and on the Wiebe family Facebook group once health and travel restrictions have been relaxed.

In lieu of flowers John has asked for donations to The War Amps.
