Linda Malcolm Obituary

Linda Josephine Malcolm (nee Rodeck) of Dauphin, Manitoba passed away on March 9, 2026, after a long battle with COPD.

She is survived by her husband Ken and her daughter Simone Malcolm (Greg Swallow) of Langley, BC. She leaves behind grandchildren Daisy, Dylan and Duncan in Langley, her siblings Brian Rodeck (Mary Ellen) and Brenda Rodeck in Winnipeg and Trudy Nernberg (Sid) in West St. Paul, along with nieces and nephews Monte, Dustin, Leighton, Erika, Madison and Haley, and her brother-in-law Ron Malcolm (Lorraine) of Swan River, along with nephew Jonathan Malcolm of Yorkton, SK. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Joe and Vera Rodeck (nee Parobec) and by her sister-in-law, Jill Rodeck.

Linda was born in Russell, MB on February 2, 1949. She attended school in Angusville and Russell, followed by teacher training at Brandon University. She married Ken Malcolm in July of 1971. He was the love of her life and they were rarely separated.

Her teaching career began at the early age of 19 years. She loved teaching and, following her official retirement, she continued working as a substitute teacher for many years. She was proud of being part of the education of so many students throughout close to 50 years of teaching. She watched her students grow into fine adults and enjoyed meeting them in the community.

She adored vacations in warm climates with family and friends, shopping for almost anything, handicrafts in a variety of forms over the years, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed watching hockey and curling later on in life.

She loved accompanying her husband on a wide variety of outdoor activities, with many days spent up at the camp in the Winnipegosis area. Their adventures nearly always included one of the family dogs. Ken will cherish the memories spent fishing, exploring nature, and spotting wildlife together.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2026. In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Lung Association.
