After a lengthy hospital stay, Linda Joyce (McKillop) Watts of Dauphin, MB passed away at the age of 75 years on March 12, 2025.
Born in Dauphin, MB on November 3, 1949, the eldest of three children to Archie and Olie (Paradoski) McKillop, followed by brother Doug in 1952 and sister Sandra (Sandi) in 1955.
Linda was raised and formally educated in Dauphin and as a young adult, worked as a secretary for local optometrist Dr. Gordon Ritchie. It was also in Dauphin where Linda met her future husband, Tim Watts.
Tim and Linda lived in Thompson, MB briefly and then moved to The Pas, MB where Linda worked as a secretary for the Highway’s Department for the Province of Manitoba. They returned to Dauphin in 1974, eventually purchasing a small acreage in Bloomfield’s Subdivision just North of the Riding Mountain Park line, where they lived for 34 years. They also set up a summer dwelling on the shores of Lake Manitoba at Hill’s Camp and enjoyed 45 wonderful years there.
In about 2013 Tim and Linda moved out of their country home and into a lovely apartment in Dauphin. They adapted very well to their new way of life and very soon made good friends with the other tenants in the building. A few years ago they sold their summer home at Hill’s Camp as Tim’s health took a turn.
Over their 52+ years together, both Tim and Linda were very active volunteers wherever they went. They truly believed it was their duty to help their neighbors and fellow man. Although Linda endured significant challenges with rheumatoid arthritis herself, she never complained but rather used her experience to help others as she facilitated the Arthritis Support Group which met regularly at the Dauphin Active Living Centre for many years. She also happily volunteered in the kitchen or wherever needed for many events and fundraisers for both the Dauphin Active Living Centre and the Dauphin and District Handivan. She faithfully attended exercise classes and quilting as well. Always on the move and thinking of others, it was not uncommon for a fresh container of homemade soup to magically appear at the home of friends/family experiencing troubles.
Tim and Linda enjoyed flying and driving to both the East and West coasts of Canada and were also members of the Amateur Ham Radio Club, hosting occasional get-togethers at their home up on the hill.
In August 2024, Tim passed away and two months later Linda herself fell sick and was admitted to the Dauphin hospital where her health continued to decline until she passed away March 12, 2025. Those of us who knew and loved them know that somewhere they are together again, free from all pain and suffering.
Linda was pre-deceased by her parents, Archie and Olie (Paradoski) McKillop, her husband, Tim Watts and her brother Doug McKillop. Left to cherish the many memories of her love and caring are her sister Sandi nee McKillop (Ken) Bass of Dauphin, nephew Jordan (Siobhan) Bass and their two children Luke and Una Bass of Winnipeg, niece Kali nee Bass (Tyson) Bosiak and their two children Jack and Poppy of Dauphin, nephew Kris (Karly) Watts and their two children Owen and Mason of Anola, niece Kailee nee Watts (Peter) Dumond and their two children Alexa and Paul of Stonewall, brothers-in-law Ken (Judy) Watts of Oakbank and Terry Watts of Winnipeg as well as close and loving cousins.
A celebration of Linda’s life will take place at the Dauphin Active Living Centre at 55 1st. Avenue S.E on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Dauphin Active Living Centre or to the charity of their choice.
