Lisa Johnston Obituary

The family of Lisa is saddened to announce her passing at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre on July 26th at the age of 69 after her brief, but courageous battle with cancer.

Lisa was born in Portage-la-Prairie Manitoba to George and Margaret Cameron on November 25th, 1950.

In 1971 she married David Johnston and together they raised their family in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Lisa and David made the decision for her to stay at home to raise their children, during this time she ran a home daycare.  When the kids were both of school age she made the decision to return to the work force where she was employed with Parkland Regional Health & Vocational Services for several years (ARC).  In the early 80’s Lisa started working with Parkland Regional Health Authority in homecare, where she was employed until her retirement in 2015.  During this time, she was actively involved with her union as a negotiator and vice president.

Lisa remained passionate about the work being done at PRVSI so she became a board member in 2002 where she was an active member until her passing.

Lisa was involved with the Dauphin Agricultural Society for numerous years.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Some of her favorite pass times were camping and travelling, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren, and great granddaughter.

Lisa will always be remembered for her laugh, and feisty tell it like it is attitude.

Lisa is survived by her husband David, her children Shannon (Bruce) and Shawn.  Grandchildren Jocelyn (Brad), Rhiley (Kamryn), Madison, David and Ethan; great granddaughter Ariella.  Her siblings Marie, George (Irene), Jerry (Yvonne), Judy, Shelley, Lynne (Dave) and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Margaret.

A celebration of Lisa’s life will be announced at a later date when the COVID 19 pandemic allows for larger gatherings.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jason Scott, the nurses, and health care aides for their continuous efforts ensuring that her care, comfort, and well-being were met.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Parkland Regional & Vocational Services at 424 1st Ave. NE, Dauphin MB, R7N 1A9.
