Lorne Misanchuk Obituary

Lorne Allan Misanchuk, of Dauphin, Manitoba, passed away suddenly on Friday, October 4th, 2024, at the age of 71 years after a brief but aggressive battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Denise (Dauphin, MB), son Codey (Sandy Lake, MB), grandsons, Marshall and Russell, son Keegan, fiancé Alyssa (London, EN) and daughter Hailey, husband Patrick, and granddaughter, Wyatt (Calgary, AB). He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Pilgrim (Kelowna, BC).

He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Cassie Misanchuk, and brother, Wendel Misanchuk.

Lorne was born on February 21, 1953 in Erickson, Manitoba. He was raised on the family farm in Sandy Lake, Manitoba where he lived until he left to pursue his Bachelor of Science Degree at Brandon University.

After finishing university, Lorne started his 40-year career with the Province of Manitoba that moved him to Winnipeg, The Pas, and ultimately Dauphin, where he worked as a Regional Land Manager until his retirement in 2015.

Lorne was known to be friendly, outgoing, and never idle - he was always on the go and looking for the next bargain!  He served on Dauphin’s Countryfest Board of Directors from 1993 until 2009. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, quadding and boating with family and friends. However, Lorne’s greatest passion was his family cattle and grain farm in Sandy Lake, MB. to which he dedicated  countless hours running and maintaining.  He loved a good prank and was known for his good sense of humor and storytelling. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage, holding on to many of the traditions throughout his life.

The Misanchuk family would like to say a special thank you to the friends who stepped up in Lorne’s time of need: Grant and Sharon Zeiler (Dauphin, MB), Ken and Judith Fehr (Winnipeg, MB) and Lyle and Kathy Campbell (Gimli, MB).

Cremation has taken place and keeping with Lorne’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service.  A private Celebration of Life will be held in the spring/summer of 2025 at the farm in Sandy Lake. Here, in the place he loved the most, Lorne will be laid to rest.

Vichnaya Pamyat.
