Mackie Love Obituary

Mackie Dee Love Sr. of Dauphin Manitoba passed away at the age of 89 years on September 21st 2021.

He was born March 21st, 1932 in Louisiana Missouri to Oliver Cletis and Martha Holliday Love. He graduated Louisiana Highschool in 1950. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in January 1951- being honourably discharged in 1953 after serving in the Korean Conflict for one year. Mackie married his highschool sweetheart Carol J. Love in 1954, having celebrated their 67th anniversary on September 5th, 2021.

To this union were born four children. Jill Love Perksins of Louisiana, Missouri (Bill), Mackie Love of Winnipeg, Manitoba (Sandra), Stephanie Love- Willems of Beausejour (Paul) and Jeremey B. Love of Dauphin, Manitoba (Tanya) Also left to cherish as “Papa” to his 11 grandchildren. Grandsons Jackson Jones (Becky), Daniel Komarnisky (Justine), Steven Love (Karley), and Jeremy B. Love Jr. Granddaughters Kathy Dueck, Kerri Perkins- Crouch (Jason), Jennifer Sumka (Pete), Tabi Love-Eitmontas (Jorel), Dr. Allison Love, Kc Durston (Scott) and Sami Love. Also his 18 great- grandchildren. Mackie is also survived by his one sister Freda Harris of Seattle. He is predeceased by his parents, one brother Lindell Love and one sister Dell Glass.

In 1973 Mackie moved his family to Canada and in 1981 he built a log home. He ran a successful refrigeration business, serving the community of Dauphin and surrounding areas. In retirement he enjoyed pursuing fishing, woodworking and the art of smoking and grilling meat. He built many beautiful pieces of furniture for his family to enjoy.
Mackie was a loving husband, father and Papa to us all. Family was most important to him and the teaching, memories and love he gave will never be forgotten!

Cremation has taken place in accordance with Mackie's wishes. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
