Marie Knutson

Marie Elizabeth Knutson of Ashville, Manitoba passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at the of 94, in the Grandview Personal Care Home.

Marie was born on July 8, 1928 to Maude and Peter Shiffman in Sherwood, North Dakota.  She was the second youngest of 8 children.

She married Alvin "Ollie" Knutson on September 22, 1947 and farmed in Sherwood until 1981 when they moved to Ashville, Manitoba.

She was predeceased by Alvin in May of 2016.

Survived by daughter Claudia Bearden, partner Robert Brooks, her granddaughter Sara, husband Robert Diaz and their son Adam of California.  Son Craig, wife Leann, grandson Jeremy, wife Jen Kitching and their daughters Ava and Olivia, of Ashville, Manitoba.  Granddaughter Amber Nerbas, husband Arron Nerbas, and their children Emerson and Hailey of Inglis, Manitoba.  Granddaughter Leah and her daughter Piper of Cumberland, B.C.

Marie was a true partner with Ollie in farming being able to run all the equipment for the grain and cattle operations.  She was an avid gardener and was known for her many raspberry bushes.

She loved card playing and was known for her coffee dates with ice cream, chocolate sauce and peanuts, no one left without these treats!

The travel bug was with them since 1969, going to southern U.S. and finally finding the perfect spot on the Baja.  Fishing in the ocean was a new challenge and she canned tuna to bring home.

She was known by her family to be very stubborn and absolutely loved a good argument!

A Family interment will be held at a later date.
