Marion Doucette Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Marion Alice Doucette.  Marion was born on August 26, 1939, to Alex and Mary Natrasony, she had 4 brothers and 6 sisters.  Marion was raised on the family farm just a few miles west of Fork River, Manitoba.  As a young girl she attended a small country school and later would go to school in Fork River.

In 1957 Marion married Mike Kornik.  They lived in Sudbury, Ontario where their first-born son Barry was born in 1958.  In the fall of 1960, they moved back to Fork River, where they had their second son Randy in 1962, and third son Sheldon in 1966.  After raising three children Mike and Marion went their separate ways.

Marion then moved to The Pas where she went to college to receive her nurses aid certificate, Marion worked for a brief time in that field.  While being in The Pas she met Ray Doucette and after being together, they were married in 1989.  Marion and Ray lived on a farm just west of The Pas, while Ray farmed Marion was able to resume what she loved doing, being a home maker.  Marion and Ray farmed for several years.  When retiring they moved to Minitonas and enjoyed their retirement years.  As time passed the decision was made to move Marion and Ray to Dauphin, and into Happy Haven.  Son Sheldon and his wife Karen were there for them when needed.  With failing health Marion and Ray were moved to St. Paul’s Home where Marion resided until her passing.

Marion had many hobbies, she enjoyed growing a large garden for her family, she loved to cook; when she got in front of her stove it was magic.  For family and friends there was always plenty to eat, and everyone was always thankful.  Marion loved to knit, whether it was mitts, socks, or scarves, everyone in the family was kept warm.  When visiting Marion and Ray the deck of cards would come out and be prepared for three hours of nonstop playing.  Marion loved to read there would often be a western novel close to her rocking chair.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, Alex and Mary, brothers Richard, Ken, and Bob, and her son Barry.  Surviving Marion are her, sisters Linda, Lilian, Carol, Diane, Evelyn, and Sherry, brother Gordon, her sons Randy (Diane), and Sheldon (Karen), 8 grandchildren and 11 great grand children.
