Obituary

Patricia Linda Snyder (Pat), 69 Passed away suddenly with a brief battle with cancer, on Thursday, September 15th, 2022.

Pat was born on May 15th, 1953, to Paul and Mary Chornoby in Dauphin Manitoba, where she remained for her entire life, living just a couple of blocks from her former childhood home.  Pat was the second youngest of six, with older siblings: Frank, Lena, Stan, Ron, and baby sister Margaret (Peggy).

Pat was educated in Dauphin, but as she was not a fan of school, she left as soon as she was able to at the end of Grade 9.

Pat was married to Richard Snyder on February 21st, 1970, at the age of 16. They were married at the Salvation Army Church by Captain Gage, but since their reception was not until the following week, the wedding party enjoyed a nice supper at the A&W Drive Inn.

Pat and Richard spared no time in starting a family with all four of their children being born by the time Pat was 23, and Richard 28. Pat did not have a very happy childhood and so she did everything she could to make sure that her children were raised in a happy and loving home. While the girls were just little and before the boys were even born, Richard and Pat transformed their small shanty styled house into a wonderful bungalow large enough to always be able to house their family of six. Their home has always been an open door to family, friends, and strangers alike, and the parties and gatherings that have taken place there are too many to remember.

While Pat had some jobs out of the home when the children were older, the one job that was constant throughout her adult life was childcare. There has never been a time, even before she had any of her own, that she wasn’t taking care of children. There have been way too many to remember but some such as Jesse were with mom for so long that he joined family vacations and visited Pat long after he needed minding.

Pat was a very content person, and had few passions, but they were strong. Pat was perfectly happy as long as she could go to Bingo, go camping in her bus, and spend as much time as she could having coffee with her friends, and make food for and celebrate with her family. Gramma to the grandkids, and then Grannie to the greats, always made sure to have snacks and candies for fun, and no one left the house without some type of food from the freezer, right up until the last days.

Pat is survived by: Her Husband Richard, her Children Cora, Tina (Lester), Justin (Cynthia) (Former Daughter in Law Paulina), and Allen (Kyla).  Grandchildren: Morgan, Graham, Jenalle, Michelle, Devon, Nathan, Emily, Jeffrey, Mitchell, Joseph, Sandy and Jocelyn.  Great Grandchildren: Jorey, Samuel, Payton, Kenzley, Hazel, and Baby on the way….  Her Brothers Ron and Stan and Sister Margaret (Peggy), In-laws: Diane, Jim, Maureen, Calvin and Brian.

Pat is pre-deceased by her brother Frank, sister Lena and sister-in-law Linda.

A celebration of Pat's life was held on Friday, September 23rd, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. from Mountain View Christian Assembly in Dauphin, Manitoba.  Pastor Scott Allen officiated.
