Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Richard “Rich” Beyette on October 14, 2021 at the age of 76 years after a short battle with Cancer.

Rich was born in Dauphin on October 1, 1945 to Walter & Elba (nee Bowie) Beyette.  He was predeceased by his father Walter, Father and Mother in law Michael and Elsie Smelski.

Rich grew up on the farm NE of Dauphin near Stoney Point, tending to the many animals they raised and assisting in the production of hay and crops.  Rich was an avid animal lover and was often found holding, carrying or petting many of the farm pets.  This love of animals grew while he was a member of the 4-H Beef Club participating in many 4-H Beef competitions & sales.  He attended the Listowel District School and the Dauphin Collegiate Technical Institute before he started working at Rodgers Wholesale, Murdoch Chevolds, Al Roth Chevolds, Dauphin Truck & Implements, finally landing with the Manitoba Department of Highways in the parts department for over 30 and retiring in 2009.  However, he wasn’t content with retirement and started working for REIT-Syd Equipment  in the early mornings helping with Freight deliveries until he had accumulated enough projects at home that he felt he could finally retire.

Rich was passionate about his community and a valuable and dedicated volunteer.  He was always the first to arrive at the event and the last to leave.  He was a member of the Pacemakers Car Club, Boy Scout Leader, life member of the Dauphin Agricultural Society, member of the Dauphin Agricultural Heritage Club, Coach for the Dauphin Ringette Association, Party site Coordinator for two DRCSS Grads, Safeway Select Curling Championship, Food for Thought and Harvesting Hope.

Rich was a very humble man, he was always the first to say hello, lend an ear or a helping hand.  He had an undeniable love for his family.  Rich enjoyed coaching his daughter Jodi, traveling to many Ringette tournaments and watching Jason in curling bonspiels.  The summers were spent at the lake, enjoying the time with family and friends at the cabin at Hills Resort on Lake Manitoba.  Rich and Marge were able to spend some of the cold winters travelling to Mexico, Hawaii, Philippines and Arizona.

In 2009, his grandson Joshua was born and he started fixing Josh’s first lawn tractor, ski-doo and building a grand outdoor skating Rink.  Rich and Marge attended the rinks and very rarely missed a game in Dauphin or further  away, they were always there to cheer him on.

Rich leaves to mourn his loving wife of 48 years Marge; son Jason, wife Lora, grandson Josh; daughter Jodi;  mother Elba; brother Murray and Nephew Daniel, along with many extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Richard's life was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from the Dauphin First United Church at 1:30 P.M.  Ilene Dowd officiated.
