It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Victor Yaciuk, 91, on June 21, 2025, at the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, with his loving wife Eileen by his side. Victor was born on January 29, 1934, in Ethelbert, Manitoba, to Harry and Pearl Yaciuk.
Victor went to Doroshenko School and later Halich School. His parents then moved to Ashville, Manitoba.
Victor worked at many jobs from an early age, starting out on threshing machines, stooking, then cut cords at Duck Mountain. He worked in Toronto at Continental Can Company 1 ½ years. He worked as a welder’s helper on the pipeline in Ontario one summer. He also worked in Levack Mine, 20 miles north of Sudbury, Ontario for two years. He drove a cab in Thompson, Manitoba, for 2 years, worked on an oil rig in Alberta, and worked for a paving outfit one summer. In 1960 he bought a new tandem truck and hauled at Esterhazy mine.
In 1969 he bought Grandview Tire and owned it for 10 years, selling it and retiring at age 45. He bought an acreage near Dauphin where he loved gardening and would spend winters in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. He spent 34 winters in Texas. He met Eileen Burback, who was from Saskatchewan, in Texas in 1986 and they spent 38 wonderful years together. They stopped driving the 2000 miles to Texas in 2013 and spend the rest of the time in Dauphin.
Victor enjoyed golfing in Texas making a hole-in-one twice. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many hours whittling wood carvings.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Burback, Dauphin, siblings Walter Yaciuk (friend Wilma), Dauphin, Sally Kereluk, Mississauga, Ontario, Alex Yaciuk, Grandview, Ron (Liz) Yaciuk, St. Albert, Alberta, Mike (Roseanne) Yaciuk, Stony Plain, Alberta, Wes (Birgit) Yaciuk, Parkland County, Alberta, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his loyal dog, Billy.
He was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Steve Yaciuk, Dauphin (2016).
We would like to thank Dr. Riley Smith, Dr. Wang and the staff at Dauphin Hospital for their kindness and great care.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Should friends so desire, donations in Victor's memory may be made to the Parkland Humane Society.
