With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Bill, at home, on January 6, 2023.
He was predeceased by his father, Allan McDougall, mother Leone and stepfather Robert MacTavish; brothers Rick and Kent McDougall.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Margaret of 53 years and partner for 61 years; son Jason, daughter Heather (Brian), his loving twin brother, Don; sisters Sandy (Dave), Chris-Ada MacTavish, brother Doug MacTavish; brother-in-law Murray (Diane), Randy, Blaine and Dave (Rae); his beautiful grandchildren Ronnie, Tiggairna, Broden, Chloe and Ethan; Don’s son Daniel and his son Austin. He also leaves to mourn his passing numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and many friends.
Bill had numerous careers while living in Winnipeg until an opportunity arose with the Manitoba Government as a Medical Equipment Technician. He also assisted in the Dental Program in northern Manitoba. Nine months later, in 1972, we transferred to Dauphin. Bill set up his warehouse and served the Parkland and Northern regions for 32 years in this position. The next chapter in his life found him working for MPI for 5 years in Dauphin and Brandon until his retirement in 2001 - now the fun began because Margaret was still working!
I joined Bill with my retirement in 2008. Bill certainly still had fun and didn’t seem to mind my tagging along. Bill passionately enjoyed all the activities the great outdoors had to offer - fishing, hunting, gardening, skydiving, canoeing, traveling, as well as wood-working, reminiscing and mentoring anyone who asked. He was very active in Junior Rifle, was a Master Instructor in Hunter Safety and a member of the Handgun Club.
Bill will never be forgotten.
Think of him living
In the hearts of those he touched
For nothing loved is ever lost
And he was loved so much.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation will take place, and a Celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date.
Should friends so desire, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the National Firearms Association https://nfa.ca/contribute/
