Zenowy (Zane) Hupalo
Born, November 12th, 1934
Passed away, January 22nd, 2021
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing into the loving arms of Jesus of our beloved husband of 60 years, father, grandfather, and uncle. Zane was born in Sifton, Manitoba to John Hupalo and Maria (Gayowski) Hupalo, youngest in the family of six. He worked the family farm until he met his sweetheart Evelyn (Kozak) in 1958, married in 1960 where they started their own homestead in Sifton. They had three children; Wayne Hupalo (Nancy), Genny Hupalo Stan (Darrin), and Darrell Hupalo (passed away March 1984). They lived and farmed in Sifton and participated in community activities until they moved to Dauphin in 1986. Even though they left the farm, he still had a heart and passion for farming. Spring plant and fall harvest he worked for several large farmers in and around the Dauphin area. Zane enjoyed auction sales whether that be cattle, horse, or farm equipment. He travelled the province with his buddies Bill and Morris.
Zane loved his family, once he met his granddaughter Serena, they were inseparable. Zane was known to his friends and family for his great breakfast spread, his fiddle playing, funny stories, and brain-teaser puzzles. Many Sundays were filled with drives around the prairie roads, ending the day with a family dinner of kolbassa on the fire. One of his greatest passions was playing and performing with his fiddle. He learned from his father-in-law Nick (Kozak), he was eager and always wanted to play and perform with his son Wayne and performed with the D.O.T (Dauphin Old Timers) band. The Montreal Canadiens were serious business to him and he was a loyal fan of hockey. He volunteered for the Dauphin Kings as a goal judge for many years. Zane’s second love in his life were his horses, they were a big source of pride to him. It took him across the province for fairs, and parades, winning several trophies and ribbons. His team of black Percheron horses filled not only his time but his heart.
Zane is predeceased by his parents John and Marie Hupalo, in-laws Nick and Mary Kozak, son Darrell Hupalo, siblings Archie Hupalo, Boris Hupalo, Victor Hupalo, Walter Hupalo, Ollie Shewchuk, and in-laws Helen (Shewchuk) Hupalo, Verna (Demchuk) Hupalo, and Jack Shewchuk.
Zane is survived by his loving wife Evelyn, Children Wayne, and Genny. Granddaughter Serena Stan and step grandchildren Quinn Meagher and Shauna Meagher. Sister in-law Kathie (Kozak) Wasylucha, and brother in-law Fred Wasylucha. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
